Online ESAT Tutor & Preparation
The ESAT rewards fast, accurate reasoning across unfamiliar questions. Preparation should therefore develop problem-solving habits, not simply add more A-Level revision.
Students applying to courses that require the ESAT and who want a structured plan for mathematics and physics content, question selection and performance under time pressure.
Recognise the underlying idea in an unfamiliar question
Work accurately without relying on long written solutions
Decide when to persist, simplify or move on
Use timed practice to improve decisions as well as speed
Preparation begins with a diagnostic view of content and reasoning. We use targeted drills, careful post-question analysis and increasingly realistic timed sets, turning mistakes into specific changes in method.
Lessons are taught live online using a graphical tablet. The written working is shared as a PDF afterwards, giving you a clear record to revisit.

I hold a PhD in theoretical physics and have more than ten years’ experience tutoring mathematics and physics from school through university level.
Students work directly with me in every lesson. My focus is on understanding, careful reasoning and the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently.
I am keen for him to work with you as I can see you are brilliant at what you do.Parent of a student
Frequently asked questions
Practical details.
How is ESAT preparation different from A-Level revision?+
The ESAT places greater pressure on rapid recognition, flexible application and decision-making. Course knowledge matters, but preparation must also train how you use it.
When should preparation start?+
It is best to allow enough time for diagnosis, skill-building and several cycles of timed practice. The exact starting point depends on current fluency and other commitments.
Can lessons cover only the sections I need?+
Yes. Preparation is matched to the modules required for the intended course and the student’s diagnostic needs.
